A school with over 200 years of innovation. Did we forget?
Our alumni invented the microprocessor, the digital camera, and email. They built the Brooklyn Bridge, co-founded NVIDIA, managed the Apollo program, and right now, an RPI grad is preparing to command humanity's return to the Moon. Two hundred years of doing things no one else has done. Yet, our school has faded into obscurity, our school spirit is gone, and we no longer foster the innovation that our school was founded on.
We're not lost. We just stopped looking up.
Let's shoot for the stars.
Our school's PR sucks, we've lost our campus culture, and our career/academic programs are outdated. I'm running to restore what made RPI special, and fix what's been broken.
Latest campaign update: I'm running for Grand Marshal.Follow @jordanforgrandmarshal on InstagramAbout Me
I'm Jordan Krishnayah, a current sophomore studying Computer Science. I've spent countless hours working on advocacy-oriented projects, pushing for a better RPI.
We're undervalued as a school, and I think we need better name recognition. RPI is a very unique institution, and has a firm hold in technical education all across America. But unfortunately many don't know that. I want to make RPI known, and restore it's status as a an engineering powerhouse on the East Coast. I firmly believe that RPI is a 'hidden gem,' filled with brilliant students and professors. I want to lead the charge in creating a more innovative, lively, and well-known RPI.
Experience & Projects
The Platform
This is how we're going to build a modern RPI. Through relentless reform of how student concerns are collected and acted upon, through advocacy for better student life, and through drastically shifting the culture of campus and how our school is perceived. We're no longer just engineers. We're makers, we're artists, we're leaders, we're innovators. Let's make the world know.
Student Life, Campus Culture & Alumni Connections
Senate and Institute Reform
Careers & Hands-on Learning
Campus Infrastructure
These goals are ambitious. Here's how I'll get them done.
I know that not everything will be completed in a single GM term. That's why my entire campaign centers around shifting the culture of student voice, and building up the infrastructure to ensure that these areas of student life will be worked on even after my term.
Senate & Institute Reform
By coordinating Senate to collaborate on critical student-facing issues, we can drastically lower the response times for such initiatives. And by establishing open forums, where both Student Govenrment and the Institute are held accountable, we can better re-evaluate our current goals each semester.
Administrative Partnerships
Every initiative maps to a specific admin office: whether it's the Registrar for QUACS and preferred names, DoTCIO for tech, FYE for the Troy Guide, the Alumni Office, CCPD, or Campus Facilities. By establishing clear lines of communication and connection between Senate & various administrative departments, we can directly advocate for large changes.
Committee Coordination
By coordinating all the various Senate committes, and having a clear vision for each group, we can simultaenously push for progress on multiple fronts. By working with Community Relations for the Troy Guide, Communications & Engagement for the Media Coalition, and Facilities and Services for physical campus infrastructure, we can accomplish a pretty ambitious vision.
Student Pressure & Voice
For facilities, dorms and accountability issues, organized student voice is critical. As GM, I would use the platform to ensure that inaction is not an option for administration. By encouraging and promoting a culture of student pressure when issues are not being addressed, we can ensure that the Institue is held accountable.
